Professor Kenneth Leithwood is a teacher, writer and consultant who has written extensively on educational reform. His theories of educational policy and accountability have affected educational policy and practice worldwide. Professor Leithwood's work has had a significant impact on public policy on education across Canada and internationally.
Professor Leithwood was awarded The Carolyn Tuohy Impact on Public Policy Award in 2006. This award is the University of Toronto's Award of Excellence which recognizes and honours students and staff whose accomplishments continually impress and inspire locally, nationally and globally.
Beyond traditional research and publishing, Professor Leithwood has served on the boards of several major research journals and served as president and program chair of various professional organizations in the field of educational leadership. He has written over 30 books, 60 book chapters and many refereed articles.
He is known to engage people in a spirit of generosity and reciprocity, and has a deep personal and professional commitment to public education.
