Harwood Andrews Lawyers Internship Program

Head of School, Professor Anne Rees, in conjunction with Harwood Andrews Lawyers are pleased to again offer the 2009 intake into the two year Internship Program for Deakin law students.
Harwood Andrews Lawyers are currently looking for two students (one student for the Geelong office and one for the Melbourne office) to engage in an internship program. The selected students will gain experience within the Business law and Litigation departments. Examples of the types of work that might be undertaken are:

  • Assisting in aspects of complex commercial transactions and disputes
  • Undertaking research in the areas of law in which the firm practices
  • Compiling weekly case/legislation updates and commentary on changes in the Law
  • Assisting in the preparation of newsletter articles circulated to clients and referrers
  • Updating the annual editions of the Trust Structures Guide
  • Drafting of memos and documentation
  • Assisting lawyers in researching specific areas of law to enable them to undertake presentations to clients or at department meetings

Students would be required to:
  • Have a keen interest in commercial, taxation and trust matters
  • Be available to work one day per week for a period of two years
  • Be a third year LLB student or fourth year combined law student, thereby having two years study to complete from the start of semester one 2009.

Remuneration will be paid and the program will also count towards the 30-day professional work experience requirement for the Deakin University Law degree.
