There are many conditions on your use of Deakin’s IT facilities, including only using accounts for course-related purposes (in other words, no game playing, no personal surfing, no accessing offensive material). All details of computer activities are recorded through students account log.
The University has a quota system. Details are available from the Internet Usage System - password required. In determining what is reasonable it has the right and ability to track all the websites you might visit, all the chat lines you might use, how long you are online, etc.
You can see how important it is that you abide by another of the conditions of use, namely, that you do not divulge your account password to anyone. If you do so and someone uses your account inappropriately, it is your account that will be closed. For full details on the conditions of use you should read the details at ITS Conditions of Use.
