Further study options for current Deakin students

Completing further studies at Deakin can give you a deeper knowledge of an area you have previously studied, or provide knowledge and expertise in a different area, broadening your skill set and further enhancing your employability.

For example, as Bachelor of Arts is a somewhat general degree, it is the most common course that is followed by further study, especially in areas of psychology and teaching.

Studies in nursing and psychology often go hand in hand and it is also popular to complete honours in each of these areas.

At Deakin we support lifelong learning and we give students choices about the way they study.

Our flexible approach to course delivery allows you to study on or off campus, full or part-time, or combine a mix of study modes. The best teaching methods and the latest technologies provide real choices for students in the mode, place, time and duration of their studies.

This flexibility is especially valuable to people who have already completed a degree and may want to move on to working and undertaking further study at the same time.

As a further study option, honours courses are the most popular courses undertaken following completion of a bachelor degree, especially in areas of arts, commerce and biomedical science.

Honours

Honours is a further year of study undertaken after completion of a Bachelor degree, in which students can further develop research skills and expand on their knowledge and interests.

You may like to complete Honours to do more specialist research in your completed Bachelor degree area, to develop independent skills in research, thinking and writing or to set you apart from other graduates;

Application processes for honours degrees vary because each faculty and/or school have their own unique processes. Visit the faculty requirements page for more information.
