Dispute Resolution
Disputes can arise in almost any context, and the University Solicitor's Office
is available to assist and act as an advocate for the University in relation
to any dispute. The involvement of the Solicitor's Office at the earliest
possible point when the potential for dispute is recognised will serve to protect
the University's interests.
If you would like advice or representation in relation to an actual or potential
dispute, please include the following information in your instructions:
- when the dispute began
- the parties to the dispute
- what is or may be in dispute
- are there any records, including documentation, of any negotiations or
discussions about the dispute or relevant prior matters?
- who in the University has been notified about the dispute and are there
any other people in the University likely to be affected by the dispute?
- if the matter relates to a claim under an insurance policy, have you notified
the insurance officer of the dispute so that our insurers can be notified?
- is there a history of past disputes with the person or organisation you
have the dispute with?
