How can you be enviro-wise?

It may seem like a small step but just by following these simple enviro-actions you can make a difference.

Save Paper

Did you know?

Australia consumes 40 million trees in paper each year. In 2005, Deakin consumed 23 million sheets of paper.

Enviro-Action:

Print and copy double sided.
File electronically.
Avoid printing unless absolutely necessary.

Save Energy

Did you know?

Lighting accounts for up to 60% of office energy use. In 2005, 155,000 trees were required to break down the 42,000 tonnes of CO2 produced to generate the electricity consumed by Deakin.

Enviro-Action:

Switch off lights when not in use.
Take advantage of natural light where possible.

Did you know?

Turn off your screen when absent for more than 15 minutes Turn your computer, printers and copiers off at night.

Save Water

Report leaking taps to Facilities Management on 5227 2408.
Don’t leave taps running.
Treat water as gold.

Reduce Pollution

17 trees are required to break down the 4.2 tonnes of CO2 produced by the average car per year.

Catch public transport
Car pool
Ride a bike
