Parking and traffic on Deakin University Campuses are governed by Regulation 14.1(3) - Control of Traffic and Parking. View the Deakin University Parking Regulations
You must park your vehicle in a defined car parking bay, within an officially designated parking area. Signs posted at the entrance to each car park clearly define who may park there. Fines may be imposed on vehicles parked outside marked bays, for example, against kerbs or on grassed areas.
Carparks are divided into zones, for which different permits apply. If you have a:
All vehicles parking on Deakin University Campuses between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday require a current parking permit, with the exception of a limited number of free parking spaces at the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds and the Warrnambool Campus.
Permits should be placed on the left-hand side of the windscreen. They must be visible at all times and not obscured by window tinting, sunshades or sunvisors.
The following permits are available:
Motorcycles do not need a permit. They should only be parked in motorcycle bays or in blue or red vehicle bays
Any vehicle parked in a disabled / accessible parking space within a permit zone must display a category 1 disabled parking permit or a Deakin University disabled parking permit, and a parking permit valid for the zone in which the vehicle is parked.
Off campus students can purchase blue or red parking permits at half the annual or semester fee from the Cashier Office on their Campus.
If you receive a parking infringement you have two options:
Either option must be done within 28 days of receiving the Parking Infringement. If there is no payment or correspondence from you within the 28 days, you will be sent a reminder notice and incur a late payment fee.
Faculties and Divisions are issued with a quota of daily permits free of charge for 'official visitors' at the start of each year. You should see your Faculty or Division to obtain a permit in advance for your visitor. This allows your visitor to park in yellow, blue or red zones or disabled bays (along with a council issued disabled parking permit for accessible bays). Permits must be displayed on the vehicle's dashboard. Additional permits are available if this supply is exhausted, but must be purchased from FMSD at the day permit rate.
Casual day visitors are required to purchase a daily parking permit from ticket machines in carparks or near Campus entrances.
All Campuses are governed by the Road Safety Act (1986), as are all Victorian roads. This means that you must obey all road rules, signs and speed limits.
A speed limit of 40 kilometres per hour applies on Deakin Campus roads. Car parks have posted speed limits of 10 or 20 kilometres per hour.
Victoria Police have the right to issue infringement notices for traffic offences on Campus roadways.
