Cross-institutional study for non-Deakin students

Deakin offers the opportunity for students from other institutions to enrol at Deakin in units approved by their home institution which, on successful completion, will be credited towards an award course taken at the home institution.

How do I apply?

Cross-institutional applications for Trimester 3 2008 and Trimester 1 2009 are now open.

Download the application (946KB) and submit it along with all relevant documents by the closing dates below.

Closing dates

Applicants are encouraged to return their completed forms as early as possible as places may be limited. Closing dates are as follows:

Please note if you are applying for a Commonwealth Supported Place you must complete a new Commonwealth Assistance Form (HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP), as failing to do so may result in delays in processing your cross-institutional enrolment.

Evidence of current funding arrangements with your home institution are also required to enable Deakin to enrol you in the correct funding type (e.g a copy of your most recent Commonwealth Assistance Notice).

Because of the limited places available in some units, it may not always be possible for Commonwealth Supported students from other institutions to also be offered Commonwealth Supported places at Deakin.

You may apply for units in more than one trimester on the application form. However, if you apply for only one trimester, you will need to submit another application form for any further trimesters.

The Deakin University Handbook provides comprehensive unit descriptions, trimester and mode availability (eg. on or off campus), pre-requisites, credit point value and assessment details, which will assist in choosing the units most suitable to your current study.

Once you have submitted your application for enrolment in cross-institutional study at Deakin, your application will automatically progress to an enrolment if the relevant Deakin Faculty approves your application. Once enrolled, you have the privileges and responsibilities of a student at Deakin, and an invoice for any fees payable will be available online via StudentConnect.

Fee information

The University charges fees for cross-institutional unit enrolments. Cross-institutional unit fees are trimester based and vary depending on whether you are a Commonwealth Supported or Fee Paying student at Deakin University. The cost of each unit depends on the government classified area of study the unit belongs to. Want more information on fees?
