Faculty application requirements - for Non Year 12s

The following information is for Non-Year 12 applicants. If you are a Year 12 student applying for entry in semester 1, you need to apply through VTAC - please see the Undergraduate/VTAC applications page.

When applying online you will be required to upload all supporting documents at the last step of the application process. If you are unable to upload your documents, hard-copies must be submitted within five working days. A complete set of certified documents attached to the supporting documents cover sheet (47KB) must be submitted for each course preference you have made.

If you wish to apply for credit for previous studies (Advanced Standing) as part of your online application, please complete the Advanced Standing form (51KB) (new window) and submit this with your application by scanning and uploading the form. Alternatively you can submit it using the supporting documents cover sheet (47KB).

Your faculty may require further information from you when submitting your application. Please refer to the faculty information below to ascertain whether you are required to lodge further information.

Faculty of Arts and Education

(Course codes starting with A, plus D710 and D752)

All applicants to Faculty of Arts and Education undergraduate courses must provide:

a personal statement - You are required to provide a statement of no more than 500 words in support of your application. This statement should indicate the area(s) that you are interested in studying e.g. Anthropology, Sociology etc as well as information to demonstrate your motivation and commitment to study, knowledge of the course you are applying for, desire to pursue or advance a career in a related field, any relevant work experience and any further information regarding factors that may be relevant to prior studies undertaken. Sign and date your statement, declaring it as you own work.

certified copies of Year 12 ENTER score (including study scores) and transcripts/completion certificates for any post-secondary studies undertaken.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours)

All applicants should obtain a copy of the relevant discipline Honours booklet available by telephoning the Honours Co-ordinator on +61 3 5227 2202 or email artsedg@deakin.edu.au. Please indicate at the top of your statement the proposed area of study for your thesis and/or coursework. Where relevant, please indicate whether you have discussed your proposal with a Deakin Academic staff member and the name of that staff member.

Graduate Certificate of Arts and Sciences

Applicants who are current Deakin students do not need to supply any supporting documentation.

All applicants to Faculty of Arts and Education postgraduate courses must provide:

Certified copies of undergraduate and/or postgraduate qualifications and, where applicable, a resume detailing work experience.

Applicants seeking Advanced Standing (credit for prior study) should also include extracts from institution handbooks for any units for which specific credit is sought.

Faculty of Business and Law (course codes starting with M, plus D701, D702, D703, D704, D705 and D706)

Applicants for postgraduate courses

Applicants for all postgraduate courses must provide a certified copy of their undergraduate qualifications and, where applicable, a resume detailing their work experience. Specific admission requirements for each course are provided under " Course Description" which is available by doing a course search (new window).

Applicants for undergraduate courses

As part of the selection process, the University will consider confidential referee reports from professional associates. Referee reports from friends and family members will not be considered. You will need to provide two referee reports. Download a copy of the referee report (47KB).

Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences (course codes starting with H)

Applicants for all courses (except Honours in Psychology and Gradate Diploma of Psychological Studies)

All applicants must provide details of work experience relevant to the course for which you are applying. This may include voluntary or unpaid work.

Applicants for all courses (except Honours courses)

Each applicant is require to submit the names of two professional referees. Each referee must be willing to provide a confidential report if required. Include the following; Name and Position, Address, Email, Telephone and Fax numbers.

Applicants for Psychology courses

All applicants to 4th year, Masters and Doctoral studies should provide certified copies of academic transcripts from all previous tertiary studies undertaken at universities other than Deakin.
