Industry learning
The Faculty of Science and Technology at Deakin offers many opportunities for students to experience the workplace throughout their course of study. You may choose subjects which take you into the field, place you in industry or offer an internship. We aim to produce high calibre graduates who are employable and have a broad understanding of the career opportunities available in their chosen field.

Industry Based Learning (IBL) involves working full or part time in industry as part of your degree program and plays a valuable role in preparing for graduate employment. The placement is incorporated into a unit of study and credited towards your degree.

As a student in the IBL Program, you would be given an opportunity to apply and consolidate knowledge gained at university, experience workplace culture and work practices, explore career options and develop a professional network.

Graduate recruiters usually give preference to students who have participated in IBL programs, as they recognise that these students are better prepared for work, and are also likely to be more informed about their career choices. More IBL information.

As part of the Bachelor of Construction Management you must complete at least eighty working days of industry-based experience to meet Australian professional requirements, but this experience can be acquired prior to course commencement.

Overseas study
Give yourself the competitive edge after graduation; discover and live in a new country and make friends all around the world. With a Deakin Education Abroad program, your Deakin degree can take you where you want to go.

Exchange and Education Abroad programs are available to all Deakin students, including international, postgraduate and off-campus students.
