Performing and creative arts

Performing and creative arts at Deakin

Dance, drama, film, graphic design, media and visual arts: this rich diversity of experience helps prepare you for creating outstanding works of art in your chosen field. With innovative practices and first-class facilities, Deakin is the ideal environment to let your talent and creativity run wild.

Deakin's performing and creative arts courses have been developed in close consultation with industry and include a unique blend of theory and practice. Our aim is to develop innovative and entrepreneurial skills in our graduates. Deakin encourages ‘convergence learning’ across the range of programs offered in performing and creative arts. For example, as a dance and drama student you will collaborate with film and computer animation students to create truly unique performances.

You will also be supported with resources not available at most universities, such as the Motion.Lab, a state-of-the-art facility that can produce lifelike 3D animation and special effects used in films, television and computer games.

At an undergraduate level we offer major sequences in dance, drama, graphic design, and visual arts through our Bachelor of Creative Arts. We also offer a Bachelor of Film and Digital Media and a Bachelor of Arts (Professional and Creative Writing).
