Society and politics

Society and politics at Deakin

Deakin’s programs in society and politics are as diverse as the careers they represent. Our programs are carefully designed to equip graduates with the knowledge and skills vital for gaining meaningful careers within the education sector, government departments, community services and the health industry. The academic staff members who teach our society and politics programs are active in their professional communities both in Australia and overseas. If you’re committed to the wellbeing of society and individuals, then a broad range of courses – from sociology to criminology, politics to philosophy – will prepare you for a fulfilling career within the public or private sectors.

Through an arts degree you will gain marketable, transferable skills in research, analysis, lateral thinking, writing, communication and teamwork. You will also be provided with opportunities to gain relevant professional practice through work placements and internships.
