At Deakin University, we offer flexibility with over 270 coursework programs in over 30 different disciplines of study, so you have the opportunity to broaden your skill base – or take a specific course specialising in a niche area.

Deakin coursework programs give you the opportunity to complete a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters program within a structured learning format. Some coursework programs also contain research components and/or dissertations.

Graduate certificates

Graduate certificate courses are designed to develop your skills in a specialised area that may or may not be directly related to your undergraduate degree. Some graduate certificates are designed for non-graduates and allow you to go on to further postgraduate study. The programs are usually vocationally oriented and comprise foundation studies in a specific discipline.

Graduate diplomas

A graduate diploma is a more specialised award and is usually vocationally focused. Entry is usually based on completing a three-year bachelor degree or equivalent. However, alternative entry is possible, based on your professional or industry experience or other relevant approved qualifications.

In most courses the graduate certificate and graduate diploma can be used as stepping stones towards the completion of a masters degree. The graduate certificate and graduate diploma are also exit options if for unforeseeable reasons you cannot complete your masters program (course rules may apply).

Coursework masters programs are designed with an understanding of the pressures of busy professionals. They are intensive programs in which the qualification is directly relevant to a career environment, and they offer the benefit of networking with like-minded people.
