Postgraduate study at Deakin has never been more valuable. According to study from the Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) it seems that more and more individuals are choosing to take up postgraduate study. Of those enrolled in study in 2006 over 25 per cent were in some form of postgraduate study (five per cent in a research qualification). (Source: DEST Selected Higher Education Statistics 2007)

The survey found that the typical (median) annual salary for a new postgraduate was $60 000 in 2006, (up by $1900 from 2005) and a higher proportion of postgraduates were in full-time employment than in 2005 – of those available for full-time employment, 89.9 per cent were working full-time.

MBAs have been found to be particularly valuable. According to the article, 'Reinventing leadership' (2008), 'people who completed their MBAs in 2002 enjoyed an average 20 per cent pay rise each year for the next five years. The majority were earning between $50,000 and $100,000 in the year before they started their MBA, but by 2006 more than a third were in the $100,000 to $150,000 bracket and a further 25 per cent were earning even more,' (Source: Financial Review - Boss, May 2008, volume 9, 'Reinventing leadership').

There has never been a better time to commence postgraduate studies at Deakin.
