At this stage of your school career you're probably giving serious thought to what you're going to do when you finish Year 12. More people than ever before are heading to uni. University graduates enjoy better employment rates and higher average starting salaries than non-graduates. Uni is also a great place to meet new people, try new experiences and make friends and networks that last a lifetime.
There are plenty of things to consider as you approach your VCE, including thinking about the subjects you're going to choose in Year 11 and 12.
If you're interested in a certain field of study, make sure you check out what subjects you'll need to complete in your VCE for entry into that course. Most Deakin courses require students to complete certain prerequisite VCE subjects in years 11 or 12 in order to be considered for a place (regardless of your ENTER score in Year 12). A prerequisite is one or more subjects of the VCE or equivalent, which must have been successfully completed before your enrolment in a course will be considered.
Year 11 students should check out A Guide to Entry in 2011 (1.6MB) for help with course selection.
Make sure you look up the information available for year 10 and 11 students from VTAC (new window) so you know what to consider when choosing your VCE subjects.
