Opportunities to get involved

There are several ways in which you can partner with Deakin University to expand opportunities in education, including:

Scholarships and student prizes

Individuals, businesses and philanthropic organisations are encouraged to partner the University in assisting students with their university education, through access or accommodation scholarships and the sponsorship of prizes. Prizes are the ideal way for corporate Australia to be linked with high achieving students, as well as to identify potential employees.

Construction and fit out of buildings

To continue to accommodate cutting-edge technologies, programs and courses, Deakin always requires the refurbishment of existing buildings or even the construction of new buildings.

Deakin is currently establishing a new Victorian medical school, which will require ongoing support. The school will have a real commitment to improving health and medical care in western Victoria.

Student receiving testamur from the Chancellor at graduation

"There's an old saying that if you give a man a fish you'll feed him for a day, but teaching him to fish will feed him for a lifetime.

"Educating our young people is a national priority. It is the key factor in creating employment opportunities and eliminating poverty.

"I am pleased to support Deakin in this vital work."

"The cost of education is much higher at university [compared with TAFE], and with a two-year-old son I was worried about accumulating a massive HECS debt. This is when I came across Deakin George Alexander Foundation Scholarship on the internet.

"This scholarship has taken so much pressure off. With less financial pressure I can afford to work less which gives me more time to concentrate on doing well at Deakin. With the scholarship I also plan to complete two units over summer to fast track my degree."

Mr Paul Wallace
Recipient of the George Alexander Foundation Scholarship
