Wine Science

Deakin's Centre for Cool Climate Wine Science is officially affiliated with the National Wine and Grape Industry Centre (NWGIC) and has the leading role of national coordination of research and development in cool climate wines across all production zones.

It is a joint venture between Charles Sturt University, the Victorian Wine Industry Association (VWIA) and Deakin.

The Centre is positioning Victoria on the international wine map through its leading edge teaching and R&D program.

The program is linked to the world's leading winery production and processing engineering consortium VELO and the Australian partners JMA engineering.

Partnership with Hardy Wines Australia and the appointment of Group Chief Winemaker Peter Sawson as Adjunct Professor provides linkage to every wine region in Australia.

The focus is on landing winemakers on their feet anywhere in the world.
