The Faculty of Health, Medicine, Nursing and Behavioural Sciences has been one of the University's key players in the area of partnerships. The Faculty's partnerships involve collaborative activities with government bodies, public and private organisations, hospitals and other universities. The breadth of activities reflect the diversity of staff interests and areas of expertise, as well as a strong commitment of improving health and well-being of the communities we serve. Partnerships are created because individual parties believe they can better achieve their goals by working together. Sharing resources, expertise and commitment provides capacity and outcomes, which either or one alone may not realise. The Faculty is committed to strengthening its existing partnerships, developing capacity for the benefit of the partners, as well as developing new partnerships which can improve health outcomes. Partnerships are maintained as long as the partners are satisfied with the outcomes in relation to their agreed expectations. Established partnerships are also periodically reviewed according to agreed protocols, in conjunction with the partners, to ensure their effectiveness and align activities to support the needs of both partners. The Faculty is delighted with the success of the partnerships and the enthusiasm generated by staff in the partnerships. Especially pleasing is the growth in external funding attracted by the partnerships to support partnership activities. We look forward to continuing and developing exciting collaborative projects through the strong links created with new and existing partnerships. Professor John Catford |
