It's Your Move!

Aims:

  1. To support the development and implementation of the East Geelong community-based intervention program on overweighIYMlogot/obesity prevalence in young people (13-17y)
  2. To measure the process, impacts and outcomes (including cost-effectiveness) of the project.

Geelong has been chosen as the third site for the Sentinel Site’s demonstration projects with a particular focus on the East Geelong/Bellarine region. The target population are adolescents (aged 13 – 17 years) attending Bellarine Secondary College, Newcomb Secondary College, Geelong High School, Catholic Regional College and Christian College. The schools will be collaborating on a 3 year intervention to promote healthy eating and activity in the schools and community. The project is part of an international collaboration with the OPIC Project in Auckland, Fiji and Tonga.

The project aims to promote healthy eating patterns, regular physical activity and healthy bodies amongst youth; and improve the capacity of families, schools and community organisations to sustain the promotion of healthy eating and physical activity.
