Major Workplace Change

What is Major Workplace Change?

The Deakin University Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2005-2008, defines major workplace change as, 'a major change in organisation, structure or technology including the use of flexible delivery that is likely to have significant effects on staff members.'

Major workplace change can include contracting out of services or outsourcing a significant business function by creating a new corporate entity.

Whether the change arises because of budget or because of a decision to change direction, restructuring a work area will have implications for staff. This is the case regardless of whether or not staff numbers actually reduce or not.

These web pages have been developed to provide information and practical tools designed to assist managers to understand and manage the human resource aspects of major workplace change. The information and practical tools will provide assistance at each of the four key stages in the change process, while enhancing understanding and awareness of some of the 'human' elements associated with introducing major workplace change.
