Generic Position Descriptions
This site contains a range of generic (sample) position descriptions for positions found commonly across the University.
The position descriptions are available for use by staff and/or their supervisors to assist with creating new position descriptions and for benchmarking purposes when submitting a job evaluation application. Ultimately the position descriptions can be tailored for specific faculty and divisional needs.
The sample position descriptions will not only provide guidelines for writing good quality position descriptions, but will also convey requirements of positions at various HEW levels.
Feedback from key faculty representatives has been incorporated within the sample position descriptions prior to formal evaluation and confirmation of classifications by members of the Job Evaluation Pool.
HRSD acknowledge that individual faculties and divisions may have variations on the duties undertaken for similar roles, therefore we are creating a 'Generic Duties Library' which will soon be available and will contain a comprehensive range of 'functional' duties at various HEW levels, that can be integrated into the sample (generic) position descriptions.
