Blackboard (Vista Enterprise License) is the primary application used at Deakin to deliver web-based course material and assessment tasks. It facilitates communication and collaboration between staff and students by providing on-line links between academic teaching staff and students.
Blackboard provides a range of integrated web-based tools for:
Every undergraduate unit in the University has a Blackboard section. Depending on your role in each unit, you may be enrolled as a Designer, Instructor, Designer and Instructor or Teaching Assistant.
Designers can structure and build content. They can use Folders, Files and Learning Modules to provide unit material and resources for students. The Selective Release tool allows particular materials to be made available only for particular groups or cohorts within a unit.
Instructors can interact with students via the Announcements, Discussions and the Calendar tools. Instructors can manage and mark student Assessments and Assignments and monitor student progress through the Grade Book and Student tracking tools. The Group Manager can be used to organise students into learning groups. Teaching Assistants will have access to some, but not all, the tools that Instructors can access.
The resources on this website will provide you with easy access to information about using Blackboard. For further assistance, contact the ITL Support Service.
