The Australian Multicultural Literature Collection consists of works by non-Aboriginal authors who are:
While most of this material is located in the general collection, the following categories are held in the Special Collection at the Geelong Waterfront Campus:
- Residents in Australia but born overseas in a non-English speaking country and whose first language is not English
- Australians born in Australia or Australian citizens resident overseas, of overseas born parents from non-English speaking backgrounds
- rare material
- limited editions of 500 copies or less
- self-published works
- small press publications
- flimsy, pamphlet-type items
- items signed by the author
- costly items
- manuscripts
