Motion Capture

Would you like to enrol in a course that teaches you to use the equipment used to create animation characters in 'The Lord of the Rings'? Well you can at Deakin University.

Deakin University now has a state-of-the-art facility at its Melbourne Campus at Burwood to produce 3D animation and special effects used in films such as 'The Lord of the Rings'. The new facility uses the very latest optical motion capture technology. This technology creates more lifelike movements for animation characters and realistic special effects for computer games, film, television and advertising.

Deakin graduates will be equipped to work not only in Melbourne, the games development and animation capital of Australia, but in other major production centres around the world.

Deakin offers the following degrees that use motion capture:

Deakin is also be offering the Graduate Certificate of Motion Capture from November 2008.

Like all Deakin's courses, these courses have been developed with practitioners to make them relevant and responsive to industry needs.
