Deakin academic receives national teaching award

Faculty of Business and Law

Fellow of the College of Distinguished Deakin Educators and Senior Lecturer in the Deakin Business School, Dr Judy Nagy, has won a 2008 Australian Award for University Teaching from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC).

Dr Nagy is one of only 22 recipients of the prestigious awards this year, showing that Deakin University's teachers are among the best in the country.

This national award builds on Dr Nagy's Deakin University Award for Teaching Excellence and her previous ALTC Citation (with two colleagues) for her outstanding contribution to student learning. Dr Nagy was also recently awarded an ALTC Leadership Grant.

The Australian Awards for University Teaching are reserved for university teachers with an exceptional record of advancing student learning, educational leadership and scholarly contribution to teaching and learning, with the recipients receiving $25 000.

The award ceremony will be held at Parliament House in Canberra on 25 November.

We congratulate and thank Dr Nagy for her outstanding contribution to the quality of teaching and learning at Deakin University.
