Oracle system upgradeFinancial and Business Services DivisionThe Deakin Financial Management System (DFMS) is being upgraded with implementation planned for 16 September. The upgrade involves moving to Oracle Financials version 11.5.10 from our present version 11.5.8, and moving the system platform from Sun Solaris to Red Hat Linux. This is in line with other corporate applications. The rational behind the upgrade is to move to a new version that is fully supported by Oracle Support and Information Technology Services Division (ITSD). The upgrade will create improvements in functionality with noticeable changes to most DFMS modules being very small and easy to incorporate. The exception to this is the purchase requisition module (iProcurement). Along with the improved functionality it has quite a significant change in view and the data input process, such as the combining of screens and changes to entering of account codes. A new Purchasing User Guide will be issued to assist users with this transition. The project team is in the final phase of testing and resolving issues. The system will be unavailable from 5.00 pm Thursday 11 September to 8.30 am Tuesday 16 September. The new system should then be up and running from 8.30 am on 16 September.
