Mature-age students and non-school leavers

Put yourself first, change your preference to 1 Deakin

If you are a mature-age student or non-school leaver and have decided to return to study after a gap year or a period in the workforce, it is a very exciting time. You have a fantastic chance to gain a qualification and make decisions about your future.

The Change of Preference period from December 1 to December 22 is your chance to revisit your VTAC preference list and ensure you have entered the right courses, in the best order for you to achieve your dreams. Some courses require applicants to fulfil an extra requirement, such as an audition, workshop, interview or folio, in order to be eligible for the course. Please ensure you have completed these requirements to ensure you are able to be considered for selection into the course.

There are many practical factors to consider during this time such as investigating course flexibility, Deakin’s friendly support services and the costs you will incur when returning to study. To make the process as simple as possible, check out the comprehensive list of links below and remember, if you have any questions, please call us on 1800 242 251.
