The guiding theme of Deakin University's Strategic Plan 2008-2012 is Delivering effective partnerships; it is based on the premise that Deakin can best achieve its goals by working in partnership. As such, the University chooses to enter into partnerships which are consistent with its mission, core commitments and values and where the intended outcomes will advance both the University's goals and those of its partner.
In support of the goals outlined in the Strategic Plan, APIRO provides expertise and support to the University in the development and oversight of partnerships and agreements to facilitate collaboration with educational institutions in Australia and overseas. On behalf of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), APIRO also provides expert advice and assistance in international relations, as well as information for international visitors to the university.
