Maths Competition
The Year 10 Deakin University Mathematics Contest ran well with 36 teams participating, entered by 20 schools from various locations around Geelong and the Western District. John Cameron and Michelle Cyganowski organised and ran the event, with the help of Damien Hutchinson and students Andrew Cookson and Dean Findlay. Professor Kate Smith-Miles opened the contest with an inspirational talk on the enjoyment of mathematics and future careers involving maths. Teachers and students expressed their appreciation of the event and commended Deakin University for running such an enjoyable day for the students.
ExcITing Career
As part of ICT careers week, students are invited to ExcITing Careers which will be held on Wednesday 30 July between 12-2pm at the Melbourne Campus at Burwood. This event will showcase some of the ExcITing careers available to IT professionals.
Science and engineering challenge
Around 400 students from schools around the region will have the chance to participate in a range of activities showing them that science is anything but dull. Over two days, they will be actively involved in a range of activities from building bridges, solving a virtual maze to constructing and firing a catapult.

This event is for everybody and involves the whole University
Student Awards
Each year regional companies give more than 20 outstanding Deakin Engineering students a cash handshake for a job well done.
