Language and Learning Advisers: how we can help

Language and Learning Advisers are a team of professional educators who work collaboratively with students, and with faculties and staff to further the academic achievement of students.

We offer:

workshops for students on all campuses
programs for off-campus students and seminars for higher degree by research candidates
drop-in sessions and face-to-face consultations by appointment
resources which students can access online
answers to email enquiries sent via the website.

In addition to working with students, we support academics in developing student writing and learning skills. On request we can:

provide workshops, lectures or small group sessions geared to the assessment tasks in a particular unit and focus on the academic skills required for these assignments.
produce specifically tailored material for units or courses, or assist academics in developing strategies for embedding skills within curriculum.

On occasion, we have been invited to present guest lectures in academic subject areas in which we have expertise. Our interaction with academic staff is reciprocal, and we have called upon them to participate in some of our programs.

We work with the Library, the Institute of Teaching and Learning, Deakin International, Research Services Division and other areas across the University to further the academic achievement of students.
