There are a range of internal and external sport and recreation facilities on the Geelong campus, which are available for use by Deakin students, staff and the wider community.
The Deakin Fitness Club on the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds houses the latest cardio, weights and free motion equipment. Five new spinning bikes, a leg press and inclined bench press have also just been purchased giving our members even greater variety for their workouts. Deakin Fitness Club staff are highy experienced fitness professionals, who can design a personal program for you and assist you with any fitness questions you may have.

Group fitness: Need a release during the day? Join in with our Group fitness classes and burn off some energy while having fun!* Group Fitness classes run throughout the academic year only.
* All classes cater for beginners and the more advanced participant.
Free fitness assessments
Fitness programs and personal health assessments are a good way to assist you in gaining maximum benefit from your training program. Our experienced instructors will spend time with you examining your goals and your current fitness level, and help you set a realistic training program.
The assessment will take approximately 30 minutes, after which a second appointment will be made to take you through your program. Bookings for programs and assessments can be made through Belgravia Leisure on 522 72711.
Internal facilities
Sport and recreation is fortunate to have the KD Stewart Centre as its central base on the Geelong Campus. This outstanding
recreational complex has a number of facilities that are available for use by Deakin University students, staff and the wider community.
University exams, open days and enrolments are held in the main hall. It is also hired to external groups for functions such as, debutante balls,
graduation dinners, weddings and conferences.
Multi function room
The multi function room is used for a range of activities - university exams, meetings, aerobics, yoga and karate. The room has a kitchen,
wheelchair access, air conditioning and heating, and can be hired by external community groups
Small meeting room
The small meeting room holds up to 15 people for a meeting, or 25 for a class, and is used for classes, meetings, yoga and meditation.
Squash courts
There are two squash courts located at the Deakin fitness centre, available to Deakin University students, staff and the wider community.
Racquet hire is available during the fitness centre operating hours.
Billiard tables
The KD Stewart Centre has two full size billiard tables. Billiard and eight ball sets are available for hire from reception.
The Geelong Campus is privileged to have an impressive range of outdoor sports facilities and pavilions. All of the facilities can be booked by contacting the Deakin fitness club reception..
Nicol Oval and pavilion
Nicol Oval is on the North side of the university. It is used primarily for football matches by university and community teams, however the
outfield of the floodlit baseball diamond is on the oval.Change rooms, showers, toilets and canteen facilities are located in Nicol Pavilion.
Rugby/Cricket field
The Rugby/Cricket field is a multipurpose field, with a synthetic cricket wicket and rugby field.Change rooms, showers, toilets and canteen
facilities are located in Nicol Pavilion.
Jarvis Oval
Jarvis Oval is located on the far south side of the Waurn Ponds Campus next to the Princes Highway. Jarvis Ovals main features are the
turf cricket wicket and soccer pitch. Jarvis Oval has lights for clubs to train under and a pavilion with change rooms, showers, toilets and canteen.
Lakeside Oval
Lakeside oval is situated directly next to lakeside drive. Set up primarily as a cricket field with a synthetic wicket,
a second baseball diamond is also in place. Change rooms, showers, toilets and canteen facilities are located in Nicol Pavilion.
Fitness track
The Fitness Track has six loops of differing lengths that will wind you around the Geelong Campus. The main loop is 4.5km, however the
range of lengths allows you to choose a track according to your fitness level. An external exercise station provides an opportunity to
stretch or strengthen at the start and finish of your activity. Maps of the tracks can be viewed on the Deakin campus website.
Tennis courts
Sport and recreation has four outdoor tennis courts located near student residences. The courts have lights for evening tennis and netball.
Tennis racquets are available from Deakin fitness centre during operating hours.
Golf Driving Range
The Golf Driving Range is located next to the Management Centre and now has ten bays available. Contact reception at the Deakin fitness centre for information.
