Internships

Many courses offered by the University include structured internships and placements within industry. In some instances students receive credit for these placements, whilst many require practical work experience for eligibility to join professional or industry bodies.

Internships are either advertised on Jobshop or negotiated directly with students. Industry placements and approval for internships are managed by the relevant faculty. Detailed information on the format, process and recognition of internships are available on sites managed by the faculties:

Please contact us if you have questions in relation to internships which are not answered on these sites.

Work Experience and Work Placement

Deakin University is committed to experiential learning and supports many work experience placements sought by students. Many courses such as health, environmental science, politics and education have structured work placements as part of the course. Others encourage students to undertake work placements for industry recognition purposes and/or to build their skills and their resumes.

If a student is undertaking work experience in your organisation they will need to approach their faculty for recognition of the placement for insurance purposes. Please note: unless these constitute voluntary positions in not-for-profit organisations or fit under a structured and faculty recognised internship program, they will not be advertised on the Jobshop site.
