An integral part of the University’s continuous quality improvement cycle is the Performance Review, Evaluation and Planning, or PREP, process. PREP is essentially an organisational version of the individual performance, planning and review procedure. The University, Faculties, Administrative Support Services, the Institute of Koorie Education, Learning Services, DeakinPrime and the Museum of Art will produce PREP reports.
As the acronym, PREP, suggests, these reports will focus on:
The PREP reports from Faculties and other areas will be amalgamated into a PREP report for the University as a whole. Through this process, we will be able to determine whether our strategic planning is, in fact, advancing our mission; we will identify areas of strong performance and other areas where action must be taken to address aspects of weaker performance. We will demonstrate a commitment to continually seeking to improve the quality of performance in all our activities.
The PREP report will also serve another useful purpose in terms of Deakin preparing for its Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA audit) audit in 2004.The AUQA quality audit is described as a systematic and independent examination to determine whether activities and related results comply with planned arrangements and whether these arrangements are implemented effectively and are suitable to achieve the stated objectives. AUQA audits investigate the rigour and effectiveness of the organisation’s performance monitoring against its plan.
The PREP report will form a useful document for inclusion in our Performance Portfolio that we submit to AUQA in July 2004.
