AUQA Audit
As part of the rolling cycle of reviews of all Australian universities, Deakin University was audited by the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) in 2004. We welcomed this audit as an opportunity to receive valuable external opinion on the effectiveness of our quality assurance arrangements as well as our institutional planning and improvement processes.
The AUQA audit is a whole of institution review, conducted entirely by external auditors and scheduled to take place approximately every five years. It strongly complements our own internal processes.
We were delighted to receive an excellent Audit Report.
Deakin's preparation for and response to the audit followed the stages of AUQA's audit processes
- Deakin completed a critical self-assessment of the effectiveness of our planning,
reporting, accountability and evaluation cycle, along with our quality assurance and continuous quality improvement processes. Effectiveness was assessed in terms of the ability of the framework to achieve its stated aims and the appropriateness of the elements of the embedded cycles, individually and collectively, to the operation of the framework. The self-review resulted in the submission on 30 June 2004 of Deakin's Performance Portfolio.
- The Audit Panel assessed the Performance Portfolio and visited each of our Campuses in October 2004.
- AUQA released Deakin's Audit Report on 2 March 2005. Deakin was delighted with its Report; a Portal Announcement and Media Release were immediately issued.
- Deakin released its framework for responding to the audit findings in the form of an AUQA Implementation Plan.
- Since February 2006, periodic reports have been provided on the progress against the Implementation Plan. The most current version of the Progress
Report is posted on this site.
Reporting against the AUQA Implementation Plan has been embedded in Deakin's annual planning cycle.
