Deakin University has seven parking permit zones identified by coloured line markings on the road surface. All vehicles parking on the campuses between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm Monday to Friday, require a current parking permit, with the exception of a limited number of free parking spaces at the Geelong and Warrnambool campuses.
Campus maps show the parking areas on each campus.
Casual day visitors
Casual day visitors are required to purchase daily parking permits from permit ticket machines located in car parks and/or entry roads. Daily parking permit tickets cost:
Daily parking permits are valid in Blue and Red zones only.
Casual visitors to the Melbourne Campus at Burwood can also use the White pay-per-hour zone located in Car Park 6, level 1. Hourly parking permit tickets cost $1.00 per hour ($5.00 maximum for all-day parking). White pay-per-hour parking permits are valid in White zones only.
All permit ticket machines are coin-only and do not give change. If a permit ticket machine is not working, please try another ticket machine or buy a Daily Scratch Permit from the Cashiers Office.
Disabled access
All campuses have disabled parking spaces close to buildings. If you have a Type 1 Disabled Parking Permit issued from your local council you can park in any disabled parking space providing you also display a valid Red, Blue or White parking permit.
Enforcement
Deakin University car parks are regularly patrolled by authorised officers who may issue parking infringement notices. Fines may be imposed for vehicles parked outside marked bays (eg, at the end of rows or on grassed areas), vehicles left in No Parking areas, No Stopping areas, Loading Zones, and vehicles not displaying a valid parking permit.

Invited official guests
If you have been invited to attend the University as an official guest, your host should provide you with a Yellow Daily Scratch Permit. Yellow Daily Scratch Permits are valid for one day in Yellow, Blue or Red zones only. Alternatively you can park in the areas where there is a parking ticket vending machine.
Motorcycles, scooters and bicycles
Parking permits are not required for motorcycles, scooters or bicycles. Motorcycles and scooters should be parked in designated motorcycle bays. Bicycles should be parked in designated bicycle racks.
Road Safety Act
All campuses are governed by the Road Safety Act (1986), as are all Victorian roads. This means that you must obey all road rules, including speed limits and parking restrictions.
Visiting residents
If you are visiting a resident at the University, please note that you are not permitted to park in Purple zones adjacent to residences. Please see the information under 'Casual day visitors' above.
Your responsibilities
You must park vehicles in a defined parking space, in a defined car park. Signs at the entrance to each car park remind you to obey the coloured permit parking zones.
Parking permits should be placed on the left-hand side of the windscreen. Please ensure that your parking permit is visible at all times and is not obscured by window tinting, sunshades, sunvisors, or windscreen wipers. Check your vehicle before you leave it to make sure that your valid permit is displayed correctly.
Owner onus applies to all car parks and roads at Deakin University campuses. Car parks are regularly patrolled by Deakin University security officers however you should always 'look and lock before you leave'.
You should be aware that the purchase of a parking permit gives you the right to hunt for a space in defined zones, but does not guarantee you a parking space.
